Finding Your Creative Flow Through Journaling and Personal Essay with Kemper Wray of Junkyarn

Ever lost your knitting mojo? Get stuck on a craft project because you feel like you’re not sure why you started it in the first place?

In this class, we will unplug from technology for a few hours and enjoy one of the rare pleasures in busy modern life: a blank page, a pen, and the nurturing of your creative self. Everyone has the capacity for creativity whether you’re a busy parent, a scientist, or already working in a creative field. You may not think creativity plays much into your practices as a knitter, but it does! And we’ll investigate how.

We will discuss ways to incorporate journaling, personal essay, and other writing techniques into a daily practice to unlock and unblock creativity. We’ll also discuss things that get in the way of creative flow and how we can help heal our minds through the intersection of writing and craft.

Cost of class includes: two mini skeins in fingering weight (1 Junkyarn Boss Sock 2-Ply and 1 Maiden Mini from Ritual Dyes, a limited edition notebook, a Seven-Year Pen, and a pattern for a knitted bookmark.

Writing has always been part of her life (and she’s even working on a novel!), but combining the two loves of her working life - yarn and words - is a newfound passion.
