Join Andrea Mowry of DreaRenee Knits for her Fearless Steeking Workshop on November 16th at Sacred Sheep at The Redd on Salmon in Portland, OR.

* Classes DO NOT include a ticket for Sacred Sheep event entry **

Shake off the fear of steeking and leave with a wee stack of adorable coasters for all your knit night bevies! In this class we will let our hair down, cut some stitches and learn why cutting our knitting won't make it all fall apart. We will practice crochet reinforcement, picking up our stitches for a tidy edging, and of course, snipping our steeks! *Please note that this class involves homework.*

Class Times
Sunday, November 16th from 9 - 11 am at The Redd on Salmon in Portland, OR

Materials

  • Students will need to bring in their coaster project already knit and ready for steeking (pattern will be emailed).
  • Small crochet hook - It is recommended to use a hook at least one size down from the knitting needle size you used to knit your coasters. (Size C or D would be great.)
  • Fine, strong, smooth yarn for steeking - fingering weight at the thickest (There will also be thread available, so this is optional)
  • Sharp, small scissors.
  • The remaining yarn from the coasters to knit the edgings, along with knitting needles one size down from what was used to knit the coasters (IE US 1 or 2).

Skills Required
The homework involves knitting stranded colorwork in the round, the actual class will include picking up stitches and knitting in the round.

Homework

  • A knitted coaster - pattern will be emailed.

Instructor
After leaving her life as a pastry chef, Andrea's hands found the necessary freedom to begin creating with fiber instead of flour. She focuses on designing knits to fit the modern wardrobe – fun to knit and easy to wear. Andrea has a great love for indulging in new techniques and skills and then sharing them with other knitters thru her patterns and workshops. Her goal is to leave knitters feeling empowered, inspired, and wrapped up in their own beautiful knits! You can find her at www.dreareneeknits.com and everywhere else as DreaReneeKnits!
