Join Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knits for her DIY Yoke Workshop on Sunday, November 8th at Sacred Sheep at The Redd on Salmon in Portland, OR.
* Classes DO NOT include a ticket for Sacred Sheep event entry **
A hands on, design-your-own yoke workshop with Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks where you will design charts for a top-down yoke. The class provides a pattern for a standard fit, simple DK/worsted weight sweater in sizes to fit 28-66” chest circumferences. You will have the chance to make your own chart pattern for the yoke in this class, and you will discuss design theory, modifications and fit!
Class Time
Sunday, November 8th from 2 - 4 pm at The Redd on Salmon in Portland, OR
Materials
Optional! If you don’t want to start knitting your design right away you don’t need to make a swatch or bring yarn and can spend the class time just designing your idea. Totally up to you!!
- If you do want to jump right in and start knitting during or after class, bring at least 2 colors of yarn in worsted weight or DK- wool is recommended. Ritual Dyes Elder or Marona are great options but not required! The weight of the yarn is not as important as the gauge- choose a yarn that creates a fabric that you like at the required gauge.
- Needles in the size appropriate to the yarn you are using (US 7-8 is typical for these weights), you will need at least one set of 16” circulars to cast on your neckline if you want to start right away. You may also want to bring longer cable lengths. An interchangeable set is extremely useful for this class, but not required.
- Stitch markers (at least 20)
- Tape measure
- Pencil or pen for note taking
- Optional: knitters graph paper, colored pencil (these will be provided, but you may want more or to work on your design outside of class.
Skills Required
Advanced beginner/intermediate- you should know how to knit and purl, make basic increases and decreases, and have some experience with charts as well as knitting in the round. You should also understand gauge, and know how to make a swatch. Previous sweater knitting experience is not required, but is helpful.
