Every stitch, seam, and thread carries a story. In this immersive and reflective workshop, The Spirit of Cloth, Candice English of Farmer’s Daughter Fibers invites you to explore how the garments we wear and the ones we make become living expressions of who we are.

Rooted in Candice’s own Blackfeet heritage and Montana upbringing, this class examines how clothing throughout history has served as a language of identity, belonging, and spirit.

Together, we’ll discuss how materials, color, and craftsmanship reflect culture and lineage and how those same values live on in modern making. Participants will be invited to reflect on their own creative practices, tracing how their knitting journey is about far more than creating something to wear. It’s about honoring the stories we carry, the land we come from, and the threads that connect us all.

Class Time
Saturday, November 7th from 11:30 am - 1 pm at The Redd on Salmon in Portland, OR

Instructor
Candice English is the founder and creative director of Farmer's Daughter Fibers, a hand-dyed yarn company rooted in Great Falls, Montana. As a maker, storyteller, and woman of Blackfeet heritage, Candice brings a deeply personal lens to the intersection of craft, culture, and identity. She believes that what we make and what we wear has never been just about fabric; it's about lineage, belonging, and the stories we carry forward. Equal parts thoughtful and down to earth, she creates space in the classroom where makers of all backgrounds feel seen, sparked, and invited to go a little deeper.
